Description
The FN SS197SR High Performance is a 5.7x28mm sporting cartridge loaded by FN in the USA and designed for the FN Five-seven pistol and FN PS90. It drives a 40 gr Hornady V-Max polymer-tipped bullet at 1738 fps for 268 ft lbs of muzzle energy, producing a flat trajectory, rapid expansion on impact, and dramatically reduced ricochet potential compared to military-spec 5.7x28mm loads.
The V-Max projectile pairs a precision polymer tip with a lead core to deliver the tight groups and consistent terminal performance that recreational shooters and small-game hunters want. American-made brass casings and reliable primers make this load fully reloadable, and the Sporting application designation confirms its intended role as a high-volume target and plinking round rather than duty or self-defense ammunition.
