We all know that “Shoot what youcarry” is a maxim that can get very expensive if followed diligently. Fortunately,Speer has solved this problem for users of its popular Gold Dot personaldefense cartridges by creating Lawman, a series of inexpensive rounds thatmimic the ballistic performance of their corresponding Gold Dot load. This .380ACP incarnation of Lawman is an excellent practice round for anyone carryingGold Dots in their Ruger LCP, Walther PPK, or P238.
Lawman rounds use “total metaljacket” plating which covers the entire bullet in copper. This renders thebullet unsuitable for ported barrels, which can shear the copper, but lowersthe cost of the ammo and provides some lead hazard protection for the shooter. Expectmuzzle velocity of about 950 feet per second from this ammo, just like Gold Dotin .380 Auto. Each cartridge in this box of 50 uses Boxer-primed reloadablebrass cases.
Speer enjoys a strong reputationamong CCW holders and law enforcement officers due to the success of its GoldDot personal protection ammunition. A division of Alliant Techsystems, itoperates from its longtime headquarters and production facility in Lewiston,Idaho, along with sister company CCI. The company was founded in 1944 and builta thriving bullet-manufacturing business before its successful entry into theloaded ammo market.
