Description
Beretta BM-59 Type Wood Rifle Stock, Italian military surplus, used.
FITMENT – PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING
This stock will not fit a standard US GI M1 Garand without modification. It is an Italian-pattern stock, approximately 1/2″ shorter at the breech end than a US M1 Garand stock. When Beretta converted M1 Garand barrels from .30-06 to 7.62×51 NATO, roughly 1/2″ was removed from the chamber end of the barrel, which set the receiver back and required a correspondingly shorter stock. Mounting a US .30-06 Garand in this stock will leave the gas cylinder, lower band, and trigger housing out of alignment.
This stock is intended for:
- Beretta BM-59 and BM-59E / BM-59SL rifles
- Italian 7.62 NATO Garand conversions with set-back barrels
- Gunsmith projects and shortened-barrel builds where the wood will be fitted
Specifications:
- Overall length: 29″ (a standard US M1 Garand stock runs approximately 29-5/8″)
- Weight: 2 lbs. 1 oz.
- Material: Dark mahogany-stained wood
- Condition: Used surplus. Will show handling marks, dings, and signs of long-term storage.
- Sold as wood only. No metal, no handguards, no buttplate.
Can it be modified to fit a US M1 Garand? Not practically – you cannot add back material that is not there. The reverse works: a standard US M1 Garand stock can be modified to fit a BM-59, but that is a different part than this one.
